27 January 2017

The value for January is Hope.

TESCO “BAGS OF HELP” SCHEME: We are delighted to say that our application to the Tesco Bags of Help Grant scheme has been successful and from 1st Feb you will be able to vote for our project, to build a canopy and safe storage in the Barn Owls class outdoor area, to receive funding. The project will be one of three which go forward to a vote in local Tesco stores, where customers will decide the outcome by voting for their favourite project each time they shop.

Voting will take place from 1st February to 25th February and we will be notified of the outcome by the end of March 2017. The project with the highest number of votes across the region will receive £5,000, the second placed project £2,000 and the third placed project £1,000.

Customers will be able to vote in the following stores locally, so tell your friends and family across the area and get voting:

Abingdon Extra Superstore; Didcot Superstore; Faringdon Park Metro; Didcot Cockroft Road Metro; Cholsey Express; Grove Express; Abingdon Fitzharris Express and Abingdon Oxford Road Express.

SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE KIDS: Sainsbury’s Active Kids scheme is back up and running for 2017. Between now and the end of June, you will receive vouchers everytime you shop either in store or online. Please bring them into school (the collection box is in the entrance lobby) and by summer time, hopefully we will have enough vouchers to replenish some of our sports equipment.

BEDTIME STORIES: After the success of previous events, we will again be running our popular bedtime stories evening on Tuesday 7th Feb. There will be 2 sessions – 5-5.45pm for KS1 and pre-schoolers, and 6-6.45pm for KS2. For families with children in both age groups, we will also be showing a film in a separate classroom, so that KS2 children can watch a film while KS1 siblings have stories and vice versa. Children will only be able to attend one session.

ROVING BOOKS: Hopefully our Bedtime Stories event will make you want to buy more story books to share at home – so good news! You can do so on Thursday 9th March when the Roving Books fair will be in the hall.

“TAKE ONE PICTURE” GALLERY We hope you all had a chance to visit the fabulous Take One Picture Art gallery last week. For those who missed out, the artwork is still on display, so do pop in.

FIELD GATE: Please note that in order to comply with statutory regulations, the field gate to the rear of school will be locked at 3.30pm daily. After this time, please enter and exit the grounds via the main gate – please do not climb over the gate.

In the event of snow and the school is open, children should bring warm outdoor wear and wellington boots to wear at breaktimes. Volunteers to help clear snow off the playground before school would be greatly appreciated – please contact the school office if you can help.

Any decision to close the school will be made as early as possible. The school will contact BBC Radio Oxford, Jack FM and Heart FM, and you can listen to these stations by tuning into the following:

BBC Radio Oxford 95.2 FM

Heart FM 102.6 FM

Jack FM 106.2 FM

Station websites will also carry details of school closures.

The closure notice will also appear on the school’s Twitter feed and website, and also on the Oxfordshire County Councilwebsite. We will also endeavour to send an email to all parents.
