Ofsted Report 2013

Children have the choice of taking a dinner cooked on the premises, a school sandwich lunch or bringing a packed lunch from home. There are always two main meal choices, including one vegetarian and a choice of desserts.

School meal and milk information

May we remind you that all milk and meals must be paid for in advance.

The Government has announced that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be eligible for Free School Meals from the 3rd September 2014. Consequently, we have asked all parents of children who will be in Acorns, Cherry and Maple classes from Sept 2014 and who wish to take up this offer to return their completed booking forms to the School Office as soon as possible to enable us to prepare for the expected increased uptake.

Please make your cheques payable to South Moreton School. We should be grateful if you could put all payments in an envelope with your child’s full name,  the Class number and a description of what the money is for, written on the outside.

** The Finance Committee would like to announce that you can now make payments direct from your bank into the school’s account. This facility is available for payments for After School Club, Breakfast Club and the whole term’s worth of school dinners paid in one go. If you would like to participate please contact Karen Burrowes by email at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information. **

Any dinners that you are in credit for at the end of this term will be carried forward where possible to next term and an explanation sent home with your child.

Paying for a number of lunches in advance saves considerable time in the school office!

The school operates a flight tray system where children queue up and are served their lunches on flight trays; they then sit down in a suitable place and eat their lunch before going out to play.
Lunch menus are available from school and are sent out to parents each term, one is included in this section.(redirect to menu).

Children are also free to go home for their midday break.

Please encourage your child to try out our school meals, they are of excellent quality! Our school was highlighted by Defra for using locally sourced healthy ingredients.

We would be pleased to answer any questions on school meals, don't hesitate to ask!

If you wish your child to have a mid-morning snack at playtime fruit is recommended, sweets are not allowed. Fruit is provided to Key Stage 1 children under the National Scheme.
