 Welcome to Willow Class  willow

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you and your child to Willow Class. Please note the following information.

Teaching Staff

Mrs Acreman will be teaching Monday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Garner will be teaching on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs Curtis will also be teaching in Willow Class on Wednesday afternoon for one hour. We are very lucky to have Mrs Redding and Mrs Sawyer as Willow Class TAs.

On the website you will find a curriculum overview and class timetable.

There will generally be one piece of main homework per week, usually Literacy or Maths each week. This will be given out on a Friday and will need to be in by the following Tuesday.

Occasionally, the children will be given a Home-school learning project, linked to a topic. This provides an excellent opportunity for you to work together with your child.

At times, your child may also have work sent home to finish off, or other curriculum homework as necessary.

Reading: The children need to read every night to an adult, about 10-15 minutes. This should include a discussion or questions about the story, characters, author etc. The children have been given an orange reading record book which is for you to record when you have read with your child. The children can achieve different level certificates according to the number of nights they have read.

Times tables:The children will be given times tables to learn. These will be tested each Friday.

Full P.E/ games kit will be needed in school at all times. Games will be on a Monday and PE on a Thursday. Your child should wear black shorts, or jogging bottoms (during games in the cold weather), a white or green P.E. top and trainers. If they have long hair, they will be expected to have a hairband to tie it back.

We will be swimming from 18th November for 9 weeks.

13th October: Earth Trust at Wittenham Clumps for mapping skills

4th December: Ashmolian Museum – as part of our topic on Ancient Egypt

Music – Willow Class are going to take part in drumming sessions and we are pleased to have an external musician coming into school.

Please keep looking at the school website and newsletter for information and dates. Lastly, you can follow Willow Class on Twitter @SMWillowclass

Thanking you
