Maths is fun Year 3   Spelling is fun Years 3&4

Term 4

This term our topic is ‘Spring Into Action’, so we have been creating lots of wonderful spring images.

In art we looked at the work of Georgia O’Keeffe, focusing on up-close flower drawings using oil pastels.

In RE we created our own prayer cards, with an Easter message inside.

For Comic Relief we decided to make a face funny with money!

We also had a chance to show off how much we have learnt in music, by putting on a tremendous violin performance!

Term 3

We have started our new India topic this term, and have already done some incredible things!

Like our whole school art project, which will eventually be a humongous elephant!

In Geography we have honed our map skills, using atlases to locate India and its neighbouring countries.

We even designed our own Hindu Gods in R.E – from a Fire God to a God of Friendship!

In PE we are relishing our Monday morning Rugby sessions, the best way to kick start our week!

Term 2

Trust was the name of the game in Forest School, as we directed our blindfolded partner around trees and through bushes!

We also created our own stone circles in History which represented all kinds of different things; from peace and tranquility to a burial ground!

We are also pleased to announce that our comics have been published in the Beech Class Comic Collection, now available to be rifled through in our classroom, at your leisure!

We put our comics to good use by writing some incredible adventure stories!

This term in Beech we have really enjoyed our gymnastics lessons, learning to balance with a partner on different points and complete a variety of rolls, from sausage to teddy-bear!

Forest school has started with a bang! Den-building, hot chocolate, clay model making, and tree climbing, all with mud a-plenty!

Our topic for this term is Superheroes; we have already created some wonderful onomatopoeia inspired artwork as well as our very own superhero characters to feature in an adventure story soon… so watch this space!

We also thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as superheroes for Children in Need, great timing!

In history we are learning about the Stone Age, making our own tools and weapons just like the Neanderthals did!

We have drawn our self-portrait in the style of a fairytale character, and created puppets for homework to re-tell our own twisted version of the story with.

In art we used newspapers to create a collaged forest, using the story of ‘Into the Forest’ by Anthony Browne as inspiration.

We performed a Vegetable Rap at the Harvest Festival, creating our own ‘accessories’ to complement our performance.

And complement they did!

Welcome to Beech Class!

At the start of this term we worked as a team to complete the marshmallow challenge!

Some moments required maximum concentration…

Our topic for this term is Little Red Riding Hood. We re-told the story using storytelling actions.

We also had the chance to ask some much needed questions to the characters themselves.

Our science topic this term is Light and Shadow.

Turns out we already know a fair bit!
